Mrs. Virginia Anne Long, 84, of Sanford, NC, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, surrounded in love by her family.

As the backbone of her family, Virginia was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She was raised in a family that valued a love for one another and a love for others. This was evident in her social calendar that filled her days with laughter, whether she was losing in Canasta or enjoying “Taco Tuesday” on Monday nights. Virginia lived her life with an open heart and an open door, where all were welcomed and cared for. Her loving reach embraced all who knew her and her happiness was sharing in other people’s happiness. She had an uncanny ability to make anyone in her presence feel special and important.

Virginia is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 55 years: John. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Kerry Cronin of Southern Pines, Karen and Bill Harris of Sanford, Kendra and Rich Balcom of Hauppauge, NY, and John and Candi Long of Burlington, NC. Virginia was blessed with seven grandchildren: Katelyn Cronin, Max Harris, Thomas and Maggie Balcom, Lindsay, Emma, and John Patrick Long.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 2, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Fayetteville, NC. Interment will follow in Buffalo-Jonesboro Cemetery in Sanford, NC. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Sunday, September 1, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory in Spring Lake, NC.
