Thomas Buck Turner

Thomas Turner (Buck), 72, of Spring Lake NC passed away at Cape Fear Hospital in Fayetteville, NC on Monday, May 18, 2020.

Buck retired from the Cumberland County Mental Health Center after 27 years of service. He was awarded numerous awards. He was a dedicated employee and served to ensure his customers were treated with dignity and respect.

Buck is preceded in death by his parents, JC and Sarah Turner, four brothers, James, Joseph, Grover and Robert, a sister, Mary Turner-Peterson (Pete), and a host of other family members and friends. He leaves to cherish his memories, his partner of 40+ years Sonja Burgess of Spring Lake, NC, two stepchildren Effee Burgess (2 daughters, two granddaughters and 1 grandson) of St. Louis Missouri, Antwan Burgess (1 daughter, 1 son, 1 grandson) of Spring Lake NC, four sisters Juanita Mobley (Tarlon) of Columbus GA, Diane Cooper of Charlotte NC, Elizabeth Chamblee (Milton) of Hampton VA, Deniece Turner-Johnson of Fairfax, VA, a sister-in-law Corine Turner, a close uncle James Turner, a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be a small closed event due to COVID-19. A live stream will be available for family and friend to attend a virtual service. Buck will be laid to rest at Riverview Memorial Gardens, Spring Lake NC.
