Sieglinde Franziska Mantzouris Obituary (1926 - 2021)

Sieglinde Franziska Mantzouris, 94, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. She was born August 30, 1926 in Augsburg, Germany to Johann and Rosina Krazter. She arrived in the United States, after living in Germany with her Greek-American husband Louis Anastasios Mantzouris, a soldier in the U. S. Army. She quickly adapted to American life, studied diligently to learn to speak English, becoming an American citizen soon after her arrival. After the birth of her two sons and being stationed in Germany and the Washington, DC area, the family came to Fort Bragg in the early 1960s. They developed life-long friendships with the many other military families in their neighborhood - who enjoyed Siggi's excellent cooking of American, German and Greek dishes. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and her eldest son, Louis Ernest Mantzouris. Surviving family members include: son John (Karen), two grandchildren, Stephen Mantzouris (Kristina) of Cary, NC and Katharine (Shannon) Mantzouris-Johnson, of Baltimore, MD, two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Karina Mantzouris of Cary, and many nieces and nephews. Siggi enjoyed life to the fullest and was a devoted mother and friend. Due to COVID-19, a private graveside burial is for immediate family only. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date
