Sgt. Major Robert "Bob" Raymer died at his home on Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Spring Lake, NC. Sgt. Major Raymer retired from the army with 30 years of service in 1988. He then worked for Stryker Golf Course for 17 years as a superintendent over G.C. Maintenance.\n\nSgt. Major Raymer enjoyed playing golf and working at the golf course.\n\nSgt. Major Raymer is preceded in death by his daughter, Velvet Lee Raymer, who died at birth;\n\nthe love of his life, best friend and wife of over fifty years, Carolyn Lee Lucas Raymer; and his father and mother, Howard Glenn and Althea Raymer of Stone Mountain, GA. He is also preceded in death by\n\nhis two sisters, Barbara Bufkin of Merit Island, FL and Louise Otwell of Atlanta, GA, and\n\nhis two brothers, Butch and Dickie Raymer.\n\nHe is survived by his son, Robert (Bobby) Raymer of Spring Lake, NC; two grandsons, Sgt. Robert Edward Raymer and his girlfriend, Erin Cowgil of Fort Hood, TX and Justen Anthony Raymer and Melinda Vigario Raymer of Vass, NC. He is also survived by his three great-grandchildren, Logan Anthony Raymer, Robert Eli Raymer and Rebecca Ann Raymer.\n\nWe would also like to say a very special thank you to Thelma Mae Raymer Walston for all of the support she has given to both Carolyn Lee Lucas Raymer and Sgt. Major Robert Earl Raymer over the last several years. The family would also like to say a very special thank you to Justen Anthony Raymer for his dedication as care taker of Sgt. Major Raymer for several years. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty as a grandson. The family would like to thank Justen for all he has sacrificed in his life to take care of his grandfather.\n\nThe family will receive friends and family at Adcock Funeral Home located in Spring Lake, NC from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM at the funeral on Wednesday, September 30, 2015.
