Daniel Dorn Hignight, 87, of Fayetteville went home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2021.\n\nDan was born on February 21, 1934 to the late Willard and Evelyn Carter Hignight in Huntsville Illinois. Besides his parents, Dan is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Whitehurst Hignight; brother-in-law, Reggie, Carol, and Keith Whitehurst; sister-in-law, Pauline Elkins.\n\nThose he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his children, Daniel D. Hignight, Jr. and Tamara D. Hignight; two brothers, Dennis and Jerry Hignight; sister Melba Meredith; sisters-in-law Rita Ross and Marty Whitehurst; nieces and nephews, Brian and Karen Ross; grandnieces, Haley, Hannah, and Katie.\n\nDan was a proud member of the U.S. Air Force, where he retired after 28 years of service and continued to be very involved with the Air Force Sergeants Association for many years. He loved woodworking and gardening and worked at Crown Ford for many years before retiring for good in the late 90's and concentrated on his family, church, and hobbies.\n\nHe love Cedar Falls Baptist Church and spent 50 years serving the church in any capacities. He was recognized with the title Deacon Emeritus in 2015.\n\nThere will be a service honoring Dan's life on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 4:00pm at Cedar Falls Baptist Church, led by Pastor, Dr. Bruce Martin. Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm prior to the service. Burial with honors will be on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Bragg, NC with Dr. Jeffrey Sholar officiating. All are welcome to attend.\n\nIn lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Falls Baptist Church.
