Charles "Chuck" William Henderson, Jr., 82, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.\n\nCharles was born in Atlantic City, NJ to the late Charles Henderson, Sr. and Helen Leads Henderson. Besides his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother, Clyde Leads.\n\nLeft to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Sandra L. Sutton Henderson; his daughters, Marianne Henderson Peters (Don) and Dawn Henderson; his sisters, Cassie and Joy; his grandchildren, Kristina Black (Paul) and Kenneth Henderson (Sarah); and five great grandchildren.\n\nChuck loved to jump out of planes. Going into the U.S. Army in 1958, Chuck worked his way up the ranks through hard work and perseverance. By the time he retired in 1982, Chuck was a Sergeant Major. Chuck's dedication to serving his country did not end with retirement. From there he went on to teach Washington Jefferson College ROTC. Chuck was kind, caring, and extremely sharp. He could fix anything, and make anything. He was a good soldier, an educator, a friend, a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, and he will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.\n\nA service will be held in honor of Chuck's memory on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Adcock Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will begin prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at Sandhills State Veteran's Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
