\n\n\n\nRet. First Sgt. Ralph Gontran Vasquez, 71, of Spring Lake, NC, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.\n\nRalph was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 5, 1951. He began his military career in the US Army on December 23, 1971 and was honorably discharged October 31, 1974. He re-entered the military service November 1, 1974, retiring January 31, 1993. His medals include Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm (Unit), Master Aircraft Crewmember Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Service Star-2 and Kuwait Liberation Medal-Saudi Arabia.\n\nRalph's most favorite time was spent having cookouts with his family. He was an active deacon for two years at Bethune Chapel in Fayetteville, NC and an adult bible study teacher at Pope Chapel, Pope AFB, NC.\n\nHe is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Vasquez and Josephine Mendoza. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Isabel Martinez Vasquez; sons, Ralph Vasquez and wife, Michele and Dyrl Vasquez and wife, Glenda; grandsons, Daniel Vasquez, Jonathan Vasquez, Robert Vasquez, Arizona Vasquez and Jonah Vasquez; and a granddaughter, Abby Perez.\n\nA graveside service with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Bragg, NC. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Adcock Funeral Home & Crematory, Spring Lake, NC.
