Raepheal McArthur Obituary (1939 - 2017)

Raephael "Rayfield" McArthur, 78, of Temple Hills, MD, formerly of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017. He was the second of five children born to Charlotte Cole and Lenis B. McArthur in Harnett County, NC. The family moved to Cumberland County where he attended public schools. He graduated from Ann Chestnutt High School in 1958. Upon graduation, Raephael attended A&T State University leaving there after being drafted into the US Army. He honorably served in the military for four years. Upon discharge from the military, Raephael returned home where he was employed at Womack Army Medical Center. Looking for different opportunities, he moved to Maryland where he was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington, DC, only leaving this employment when his health declined in 1995. Raephael was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother, Willie. He leaves to mourn two daughters, Sandra K. and Debbie of Spring Lake, NC; one brother, James (Avery) of Marina Del Rey, CA; two sisters, Doris of Detroit, MI and Frances (Thomas of Colorado Springs, Co. He also leaves to mourn a special friend, Ms. Elaine Robinson of Temple Hills, MD and his cousin, William "Slim", many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Noon at Bethel AME Zion Church in Spring Lake. Interment with military honors will be on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Noon at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Bragg, NC.
