Pearl Ruth Godfrey Smith, 78, of Spring Lake, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.\n\nPearl was born on July 3, 1942 to the late George and Alena (West) Godfrey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Smith, Jr. and her sister, Tyrecy Benson.\n\nPearl leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister, Daphine Godfrey Tweed and husband, Claude; her nieces and nephews; and many grand-nieces and nephews.\n\nPearl graduated from Anderson Creek High School in 1961. Pearl worked as a seamstress for over 30 years at Red Cap in Lillington. After she retired, she decided to earn her CNA certificate. She worked as a home heath aid for many years. Pearl was an exceptionally caring woman and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.\n\nThere will be a graveside service honoring Pearl's life on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sandhills State Veteran's Cemetery, Fort Bragg, NC. Services entrusted to Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory of Spring Lake.
