Ottis Thomas Cato Obituary (1932 - 2016) - Spring Lake, North Carolina

Mr. Ottis T. Cato, 83, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville. Ottis was born in Broxton, GA on September 24, 1932 to Henry and Nancy Cato. He entered US military service at age 21. He was first Sgt. with Company A, 143d Signal Battalion, 3rd Armored Division, APO 09039. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring with 21 years of service to his country, he returned to Fayetteville, NC, where he became an entrepreneur in business ventures ranging from thrift shops, real estate, auto sales and his passion for bingo. He enjoyed knowing and loving the people he met and worked with in bingo and always welcomed his customers with kindness, courtesy and a friendly joke to always extend his appreciation for their trust and respect. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Mr. Cato is preceded in death by a son, Mark M. Goode. He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Marie Cato; two sons, Mike Cato and wife, Andrea and Raynard Cato of Berlin, Germany; three daughters, Janie and lifelong companion, Curtis; Starr; and Tami and husband, Todd; five grandchildren: Christopher, Regina, Bryan, Jake and Jennifer; and ten great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 9:00 A. M. on Friday, February 5, 2016 in Adcock Funeral Home Chapel, 2226 Lillington Highway, Spring Lake, NC 28390. Interment with full military honors will follow at 10:00 AM at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Fort Bragg. The family will receive family and friends from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the funeral home
