Nell Starling Kinsey Obituary (1923 - 2017) - Spring Lake, North Carolina

Nell Kinsey, 93, slipped the bonds of this earth on February 4, 2017 and is resting safely in the arms of Jesus. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dudley Kinsey, a sister and two brothers. She is survived by her son Alan Kinsey and his wife, Janet, of Cary, NC, two granddaughters, Sarah Ross (Charles) of Durham, NC and Katie Beasley (Chad) of Apex, NC and three great-grandchildren. Nell was born on August 3, 1923 in Godwin North Carolina. She married Dudley Ashe Kinsey in 1941 and, after World War II, settled in Spring Lake, NC where she lived until moving to Cary, NC to live near her son. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Spring Lake where her grandmother was a founding member. If the doors of the church were open, Nell was there. She taught Sunday school to countless children and sang in the choir. She worked at Fort Bragg as a dental assistant at Smoke Bomb Hill and LaFlame dental clinics in the 82nd Airborne Division. She loved gardening and grew beautiful roses and daylilies. She always had a vegetable garden and was quite right in saying that butter beans you shelled yourself taste better than those you could buy. She was a great Southern cook and could make a simple meal of beans, greens, and cornbread seem like a feast. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Adcock Funeral Home. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Nell Kinsey may be made to Transitions Life Care (Hospice of Wake County) or to the Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be made at adcockfuneralandcrematory.com
