Melvin B. Edwards, Sr., 57, of Spring Lake went home to be with the Lord on February, 19, 2022.\n\nMelvin was born on July 2, 1964, to the late Gloria Green and Harvey F. Edwards (Mary). Besides his mother, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Edwards, Harvey Edwards, Jr., and Robert Gibbs.\n\nMelvin was full of love and laughter and will be missed by those he leaves behind his wife Sharon Allen Edwards and their children, Melvin Edwards, Jr., and wife Lenise, and Desiree Edwards; grandchildren, De'Vaughn Edwards, Michele Edwards, and Esaiah Edwards; siblings, Emily Myers, Valerie Byson (Travis), Gennell Smalls, Machel Williams, Donna Green, Dorine Edwards, Rodney Cobbs, Thomas Bowens (Rosalind), Corey Edwards, and Shawn Smalls. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives of his large family.\n\nMelvin was a compassionate man who put others before himself. He always made sure that everyone was happy and would offer many jokes to make them smile. He was a resilient, strong-willed, and determined man who fought kidney disease and many years of dialysis with a positive attitude. He also served in the military for 9 years and worked many jobs before his health battle began. He enjoyed calling friends and family, fishing, exercising, and spending time with those that he cared for. Melvin's love for his family and friends will be missed. \n\nFuneral service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 10:00am at United Pentecostal Church, Spring Lake. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 8:00am. Burial will follow the service at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Bragg. Services entrusted to Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory, Spring Lake.
