Melvin Byrd

Melvin "Gene" Byrd, 89, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026.

Gene was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Linda Jeanne Byrd. He was also a loving father and grandfather. He is also survived by his brother Leroy and sister Janet.

Gene was retired from the Army, Special Forces. After his retirement, he found great joy in working with his hands and pursuing his love for building airplanes. He also loved riding his motorcycle.

Gene will be remembered for his quiet strength, dedication, and the love he had for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

A private service with military honors will be held to honor Gene's life at a later date.
