Matthew Thomas Lewis, 44, of Fayetteville went home to be with the Lord on April 25, 2022. Matthew was born to the late Mart Thomas Lewis, III and Donna Hambelton Lewis on July 21, 1977 in Fayetteville North Carolina. Besides his father he is preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as, his uncle, David Hull.Matthew was quiet, sweet, and very reserved, and he will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his mother, whom he adored, Donna Lewis; his brother, who he looked up to, Michael Lewis; his sister-in-law, whom he treasured, Julie Lewis; as well as, many aunts, uncles and extended family members. Although Matthew's start in this world was bumpy, he grew into a kind young man who, even with a broken femur found a way to get to church. He and his big brother were baptized together by the late Reverend Julius Parker in Spring Lake. He was a 1995 Western Harnett graduate, loved collecting coins, Goofy and Charlie Brown, and anything history, especially the Civil War era. If you knew Matthew, you knew of his love for Camp Dixie. He began attending as a kid, then graduated to a counselor, and has now worked over 25 years as a staff member. There will be a service honoring Matthew's life on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 3:00PM at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Visitation for friends and family will start at 2:00PM, one hour prior to the service.
