Kenneth Hoots

–

Fayetteville, North Carolina

Kenneth Philmore Hoots, 72, of Fayetteville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 8, 2023.

Kenneth was born to the late Kenneth Filmore Hoots and Ila Elizabeth Fulk Hoots on February 27, 1951, in Advance, NC. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Faye Poindexter.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie Hendley Hoots; daughters, Angel Sadler and husband Jay, and Wendy Hoots Shirley; sister, Gaye Hoots; bonus children, Christy Qually, Al Hendley, Mike Hendley, and Chris Qually; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren whom Pop-Pop/Grandpa loved deeply.

Kenneth was a man of faith and compassion. He served his country with great pride, first in Vietnam with the Marine Corps and then went on to retire from the US Army. He was a member of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge of Fayetteville, as well as a Shriner, and lifetime member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4542. He was a restaurant owner, a truck driver, and even owned a taxi cab fleet. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Spring Lake, NC. Kenneth loved being around kids and dogs and could talk to you about any subject matter. Kenneth never met a stranger and could talk about anything and was a walking encyclopedia of useless knowledge. He will be missed incredibly by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Kenneth's honor to www.chargesyndrome.org. This organization helps perform research and support for families and individuals with CHARGE Syndrome, like his granddaughter who was diagnosed and deeply affected by this syndrome.

There will be a visitation for family and friends on December 21, 2023, from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church, Spring Lake. A Celebration of Life service honoring Kenneth's life will be held following the visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial with military honors will immediately follow the service at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Liberty.
