Joyce "Joanne" Roberts Obituary (1940 - 2017)

Mrs. Joyce Joanne Roberts was born August 21, 1940 to the late John Pierce and Grace Driver Pierce. Christmas of 1958, Joanne met Clyde C. Roberts. The couple married September 6, 1959 and together raised three children, John, David and Holly. Though originally from Cooleemee, NC Joanne lived abroad as a military wife, finally settling in Fayetteville. She devoted her life to being a fervent wife, a loving mother and homemaker. She also worked professionally and philanthropically as an artist. In the early 80s, Joanne served as President of The Fayetteville Art Guild, and worked as a free-lance artist. Joanne primarily worked with oil paint using "Old Masters Techniques". Joanne's art work has been displayed in public and private collections in the US and foreign countries. She has many other professional accomplishments to include, designing the Weiner Works company logo. Joanne was known as a woman of class and distinction. A "Southern Belle" who was sure to have her hair curled, nails painted, as well as blush and lipstick applied before any trip to the grocery store. She took pride offering guests of the home a welcoming atmosphere. Never having met a stranger, Joanne was a friendly, humble woman who had an affinity for children and babies, even until her passing Joanne passed Friday April 21st, at her home in Fayetteville, NC surrounded by many of those who loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Grace Pierce. Also, her brother, Raymond Pierce I. She leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Ret. Maj. Clyde C. Roberts; children, John (Mitzie) Roberts, David (Sonya) Roberts, Holly (William) R. Mozee; beloved nephew, Raymond Peirce Jr.; grandchildren, Ashlea (Jason) Scott, Meagan (Roger) Melton, Brandy Cook, Shawn Roberts and Tyler Roberts and a great grandchild, Paiton Scott Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Spring Lake with Rev. Gary Borcherding officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Gardens. A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, April 28, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Condolences may be made at adcockfuneralandcrematory.com
