Joyce Duncan

Joyce Duncan, age 92, of Spring Lake, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

Born on June 18, 1932, in Glencoe, Minnesota, Joyce lived a life marked by faith, love, and unwavering commitment to her community and family.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband; Russell Duncan, brother; Buddy Pulkrabek, and sisters; Jane Steinke and Ruth Pulkrabek. Joyce is survived by her children; Daniel Duncan (Jeanette), Diane Duncan Sherrell (Jerry), and Debbie Sharrff, 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild, and her sister Audrey Lehrer.

A devout Catholic, Joyce's faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through the many challenges she faced with remarkable strength. Her resilience was evident in her courageous battle against 6 different cancers, a testament to her unyielding determination and indomitable will.

Joyce was a vibrant presence in her community, renowned for her love of bowling, a passion she pursued until the very end. Her green thumb flourished in her garden, where she cultivated beautiful flowers and shared an abundance of fresh vegetables with her neighbors, fostering a deep sense of camaraderie and connection. Joyce was a beloved matriarchal figure in her neighborhood, knowing and caring for everyone around her.

As the glue that held her family together, Joyce's strength and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love, generosity, and perseverance will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her extraordinary life.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Adcock Funeral Home on September 17, 2024, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow immediately after in the Chapel of Adcock Funeral Home.
