–

Fayetteville, North Carolina

March 27, 1955 – December 13, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Mantzouris, who died peacefully at home on December 13, 2024, at the age of 69. Born in Silver Spring, MD, on March 27, 1955, John was the loving husband of Karen Mazarick Mantzouris for 45 years and a devoted father to his two children; Stephen John Mantzouris (Kristina) of Cary, NC, and Katharine Mantzouris (Shannon Johnson) of Baltimore, MD.

John was the proud grandfather of two; Thomas and Karina Mantzouris. He was preceded in death by his brother; Ernie Mantzouris, and his late parents; Louis Anastasios Mantzouris and Sieglende Mantzouris.

A loyal and passionate supporter of the UNC Tar Heels, as well as, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Lakers, John was known for his unshakable commitment to the things he loved. He worked for Goodyear for 34 years, where his work ethic and integrity left a lasting impact on those around him. Outside of work, John was a family man through and through. He was a model of kindness and generosity, always putting others before himself.

John cherished spending time with his family, especially in recent years when he relished the role of grandfather. He was a loving companion on his son’s tennis travels, an avid music lover who enjoyed blues concerts, and a devoted animal and nature enthusiast. His sharp wit, creative one-liners, and unique vocabulary brought humor and joy to all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held in his honor, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the UNC-CH Cancer Center Foundation, PO Box 1050, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.

John’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed.
