Jerrie West Palmer had a full and wonderful life and passed surrounded by family approaching the age of 90 on August 29th 2023.\n\nBorn in Erwin North Carolina on September 7, 1933, Jerrie was raised and lived in Harnett County in the Anderson Creek area. After graduation from Anderson Creek High School, she married Eugene Carl West and raised 5 Children.\n\nSurvived by her children Vickie Beasley, Marsha Lewis, Denise Strother, Carla Pace, and Eugene (Carl) West Jr., 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, her siblings, Gaynelle Holder, Jarvis Gilbert, Roxie Mcintrye, Judy Griffin and Tony Gilbert.\n\nPreceded in death by her mother and father Arlton and Helen Gilbert, her Husband Eugene Carl West, and siblings Joe Gilbert, Patsy Rowe, Pansy Jones and Randall Gilbert.\n\nShe worked in the textile industry as a Supervisor at Red Cap Industries.\n\nJerrie was a founding member of New Hope Baptist Church for over 30 years. She loved to be with family, especially her grandkids; gardening; flowers; music and traveling, whether it be to Europe, The Mountains, Camping (Glamping), Nashville or the Beach. She had a special green thumb touch when it came to growing beautiful plants at her home and took pride in working with them. The family had the great fortune to be able to enjoy travel with her and have many special memories. She would absolutely light up around her grandchildren and loved to spoil them whenever she had the opportunity. Some of our best memories and happiest times with her were seeing her at the Grand Ole Opry where she had the biggest smile when they started singing the old songs she remembered or having her family at dinners, holidays, or special gatherings. \n\nThere will be a visitation for family and friends on Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 10:00am until 11:00am at New Hope Baptist Church, Spring Lake. A funeral service honoring Jerrie's life will begin at 11:00am. Burial will follow the service at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
