James Garland Farrington, Sr. Obituary (1930 - 2017)

Retired Army First Sgt. James Garland Farrington, Sr., 86, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 in Manor Care in Pinehurst, NC. James served in both Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded many awards including the Bronze Star Award. He retired from active duty in 1969 and became Chief of Police for the Town of Spring Lake. Later, he began a construction business, B & F Construction and afterward he became Building Inspector for the Town of Spring Lake. On December 18, 1972 he married the love of his life, Marian L. Farrington. He is preceded in death by a son, Barry Cameron. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Countryside Presbyterian Church with Pastor David G. Kinney officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with a rendering of military rites. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2017, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Surviving is his wife, Marian L. Farrington; son, Jimmy Farrington, Jr.; daughters, Virginia May, Deborah Whitley and Carol Cameron; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
