Hubert Blackmon

Hubert Troy Blackmon Jr. (87) of Linden, NC passed away at his home on January 15, 2025.

Hubert was born on April 2nd, 1937on his family homestead in Linden, NC in 1937 and was the last surviving child of Nettie B. Blackmon and Troy Blackmon Sr. He was preceded in death by his six sisters, Lottie B. Hardison of Coats, Lulu Mae Hair of Bunnlevel, Emma B. Thomas of Bolivia, Catherine Blackmon of Erwin, Lena Blackmon of Sanford, Dorothy B. West of Spring Lake, one brother, George J. Blackmon of Lillington, and one great-grandson, Trace “Tre” Blackmon.

Hubert was a life-long mechanic and technician for the civil service at Fort Bragg (Liberty). He retired from civil service, while continuing to work at both Sexton Auto and Becker Sand and Gravel of Lillington. He is survived by four children, H. Lynn Blackmon (Anita) of Sanford, Douglas L. Blackmon of Lillington, Teresa L. Mangus of Lillington, Ricky W. Blackmon (LeAnn) of Lillington, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date at Gourd Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Spring Lake, NC.
