Hollis Eugene Murphy Obituary (1924 - 2017)

Retired Army Major Hollis Eugene Murphy, 93, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2017, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his wife of seventy-one years, Dorothy E. Murphy, who died August 29, 2017. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Fort Bragg, NC with Rev. Dr. John Hedgepeth officiating. Interment with the rendering of military honors will immediately follow the service. Surviving are sons, Thomas B. Murphy and wife, Cynthia Yager, of Raleigh, NC and David E. Murphy and wife, LuAnn Oliva of Fayetteville, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Northwood Temple Church, 4250 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC 28311.
