Helen Elaine "Lanie" Walton, age 77 of Fayetteville NC, went home to her Lord on May 13th 2023 after a long illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Priscilla Elliott, her siblings Julius J.D. Elliott, Janette Snell, Agnes Lashley and Edwin Elliott. She is survived by her son Eric Walton, daughter in law Emily Rocha Walton, grandson Evan Rocha, , close family friend Allison Schaberg, her dog Rebel and companion Fred Parker. She was a loving Aunt to many, including Rachel, David, Leigh Ann, Frankie, Deidra and a second mother to Jason Roberts Jr. \n\n Elaine was active in the Shrinettes of Cumberland County, bible study at Northwood Temple Church, loved to tend to her plants and listen to country music. She enjoyed fishing at her cabin accompanied by her dog, Rebel. There is a lot to say about the force that Lanie Walton was, and she will be missed greatly by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a beautiful, loving and feisty woman, a survivor and a fighter. She was a woman of strong faith and had a deep trusting relationship with the Lord.\n\nHer family would like to extend deep gratitude to her long time caregiver Shabri Joyner for her care, compassion, love and patience during Elaine's illness. We would also like to thank the team at UNC and her most recent caregiver, Kasi Felone as well as the team at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield NC.
