Helen Sahms Rhyne

Helen Sahms Rhyne passed away peacefully Thursday, August 25, 2016, at the age of 83, surrounded by loving family and caregivers. She lived in Eastover, NC for 45 years, 35 with her husband, Reverend Gerald Rhyne, deceased. She and Gerald shared a wonderful marriage of 56 years with four children.

Helen was born in Gastonia, NC on November 24, 1932 where she lived until she and Gerald moved when he was in college. For the next several decades she lived her life as a devoted and loving minister's wife and mother. She loved to entertain, had a great sense of humor, had numerous craft hobbies, a beautiful singing voice, singing in the church choir, as well as solos and duets with Gerald in church. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by four children, Lee Rhyne and his wife, Sherry; Claudia Taylor and her husband Charles; Robin Royal and her husband, Randy and Philip Rhyne. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Michael Morton and wife, Sheila; Shannon Royal; Ryan Royal and wife, Kelly; Jackie Godbold and husband, Stephen; Jennifer Sibbett and husband, Grady; Phillip Rhyne, Jr. and Shawn Rhyne. She has seven great grandchildren, Dale and Samantha Morton, Adalyn Royal, Alexis and Jody Sibbett and Taylor and Mason Godbold,. She is survived by one sister, Doris Wallace and her husband, Dave.

A viewing will be held at Lebanon Baptist Church in Eastover, NC on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm officiated by Reverend John Campbell and Reverend Paul Worley. A brief graveside service will follow in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
