Glenda Mercer

Glenda Mirl Mercer, age 79, of Fayetteville, passed on July 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barry and Alice Hayes, her son Roger Scott Stephens, and her granddaughter, Tonya Edwards.

Glenda found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished weekends spent browsing flea markets, solving word searches, and cheering on her favorite dirt track racers. Her compassionate nature extended to feeding ducks and squirrels, a hobby that brought her immense delight. Glenda's lively spirit shone brightest on the dance floor at parties, where she would often be found, smiling and twirling to the music. She had a passion for collecting lighthouses and porcelain dolls, which adorned her home with cherished memories and stories. The sparkle in her eyes was never brighter than when she was surrounded by holiday decorations or watching fireworks light up the night sky.

Glenda is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Alton Mercer. She will be dearly missed by her children; George Stephens and Marie Edwards, as well as her stepdaughter; Billie Concepcion and husband Chaun; 7 sisters; Jeanette, Clara, Cleo, Valerie, Alice, Ernestine, Darce and 1 brother; Leo. Glenda leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth in the hearts of her 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Glenda's life will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Adcock Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday prior to the service.
