George Albert Burgess

George Albert Burgess, 90, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 in CaroMont Regional Health Center in Gastonia, NC.

Born in Harnett County, North Carolina, he was a son of the late James C. Burgess and Mary Lee Cameron Burgess. He is also preceded in death by brothers, Sam Burgess, J. C. Burgess and Kenneth Burgess.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 4, 2016, at 3:00 PM at Union United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rod Mullen and Pastor Bill Altman officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving is his wife, Geraldine Powell Burgess; daughters, JoAnn B. Thacker and husband, Wesley, of Climax, NC and Sylvia B. Ayers and husband, John, of Clover, SC; brothers: Lindsey Burgess and wife, Brenda, and Clifton Burgess, both of Lillington, NC and Winford Burgess and wife, Lorraine, of Greensboro, NC; sister, Lucille McLamb of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren: Lee, George, Burgess and Christina; eight great-grandchildren: Logan, Tanner, Dalton, Paige, Morgan, Scott, Bryson and Ashleigh; and three great great-grandchildren: Jacob, Stone, and Scarlett.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at the church from 1:30 to 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
