Ernest Lester Button, 82, of Cameron, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous fight of PSP disease.\n\nA Celebration of Life service will be will be held at Adcock Funeral Home with the Reverend David W. Woodhouse officiating Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the family requests the use of face coverings.\n\nErnest was born on September 27, 1939 in Renova, PA to the late Luellen Button and Dorothy Lucas. He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years Kiyoko Yamazaki Button; Sisters, Barbara Mantle, Mary Green; Step Sister, Shirley Lucas, Brother, Fred Button and Step Brother, Gary Lucas. He is survived by his daughter, Irene Melvin and her husband, Joe Melvin, Jr. of Sanford, NC.\n\nErnest proudly served in the United States Army Special Forces for over 21 years beginning in 1956. His Special Forces assignments included 1st, 5th, 7th and 10th Special Forces Groups (Airborne). He served two tours of duty in Special Forces in the Republic of Vietnam. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. Upon his retirement, he worked with several companies but served a second retirement with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company formerly known as Kelly Springfield for another 17 years.\n\nThe Family would like extend a heartfelt thank you to the Liberty Home Care & Hospice Services Team for their compassionate care.
