Elsie Rainey

Elsie Rainey, age 86, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024. Born in Chesterfield, SC, on December 30, 1937, Elsie was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Elsie was a dedicated entrepreneur, owning and operating the Ramsey Street Family Beauty Salon in Fayetteville for over 30 years. Her vibrant personality and love for people made her a cornerstone of her community. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was tending to her flowers, working in her garden, or spending time at the beach.

She is survived by her children; Irvin Rainey, Don Rainey, and Mark Rainey, all of Linden, NC, David Rainey of Fayetteville, NC. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren; Benjamin Rainey, Brittnee, Billy Byrd, Michael Byrd, Andrew Rainey, Krista Cherry, Laura Rainey, Stevi Jacobs, and Davy Rainey; along with eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her daughter; Ramona Byrd.

Elsie is also survived by her siblings; Joyce Teal, Shirley Brock, and Christine Stafford of Cheraw, SC, Donald Harpe of Cheraw, SC, and William Theodore “W.T.” Harpe of Bennettsville, SC; as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers; Patrick Harpe, John Harpe, and Woodrow Harpe.

Elsie will be remembered for her love of life, her kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Adcock Funeral Home chapel on December 11th, 2024 at 1:00 PM
