David Kenneth Darden, Sr., 84, died peacefully at his home on Friday, February 19, 2016, surrounded by his family.\nBorn January 23, 1932 in Fayetteville to Benjamin Troy Darden and Berniece Taylor Darden, he is survived by his wife, Iris Williams Darden, one son, David Kenneth Darden, Jr. and wife, Pam, granddaughters, Paige Darden and Amanda Darden Viverette and husband, Paul, and granddog, Murphy. He is also survived by two sisters, Isabelle Darden Seeley and Marie Darden Melvin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.\nDavid was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Darden Simmons and brothers, Frank Darden, Sr. and Bobby Darden, Sr. \nA U.S. Air Force veteran, he served in the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of Darden's Exxon Service Center for over 60 years. He was a lifetime member of Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Spring Lake, where he served as a deacon, elder, and choir member. \nFuneral services will be held Sunday, February 21,2016, 3:00 P.M., at Church of the Covenant. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Adcock Funeral Home, Spring Lake. \nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 106 Manchester Road, Spring Lake, NC 28390, or one's favorite charity.
