Carl Junior Griffin, 87, of Anderson Creek, passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2022, with his wife of 64 years by his side. He was a devoted father and friend to many. On December 16, 1934, Carl was born to the late William Edgar and Christine Haire Griffin.\n\nCarl was preceded in death by sister, Sarah Griffin Hayes and brothers, Wayman, James, Woodrow, John, Paul, and Gene Griffin.\n\nCarl is survived by his wife Peggy Griffin; daughters, Darlene Pittman and husband, Michael of Spring Lake, Diane Yandle and husband Tony of Sanford, Carla Pruett and husband Frank of Sanford, Gale Jacobs and husband Jerry of Spring Lake; son, Dale Griffin of Spring Lake, and son Scott and wife, Nancy of Vass; fourteen grandchildren: Charles Ward, Crystal Ryan Callahan, Amy Morris, Jonathan Gonia, Marissa Thomas, William Lane, Ashley, Amber, Jerry Jr., and Bobby Jacobs, Trinity, Tristyn and Trenton Griffin, and Dylan McAvoy; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brothers, Charles and Robert Griffin; and numerous nieces and nephews.\n\nCarl Griffin was a hardworking, Christian man that loved his family. He leaves a legacy of love and was a friend to all. Carl was a heavy equipment and automobile mechanic for over 60 years, helping many people throughout the years. His passion for cars extended to the racetrack. He loved NASCAR, and in his younger years, there were many nights and weekends working on race cars. Carl always enjoyed being outside in his garden, watching his vegetables grow. He loved to visit family and friends and share his garden rewards. He had the prettiest, best-tasting tomatoes around. Carl was a member of the Masonic Lodge #302 and Harnett County Shrine Club, Lillington, NC for 28 years. Carl would greet you with an infectious smile at the annual fundraiser, where you would find him behind his "souped-up" grill cooking BBQ for the annual fundraiser. He enjoyed raising money for the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford and Shriner Children's Hospital.\n\nCarl's kindness and generosity are apparent to all those whose lives he touched through the years, and the outpouring of support following his passing shows the enormous impact he had on his family, his friends, and his community.\n\nA visitation will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Adcock Funeral Home. A service in Carl's honor will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Gourd Springs Baptist Church, with Woody Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the Gourd Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.\n\nDue to COVID-19, masks are preferable to protect you and the family.
