Bill Erwin Ryan, 69, of Spring Lake, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 17, 2022 while surrounded by his loving family.\n\nBill was born January 25, 1953 in Erwin, NC, to the late John Ryan and Nancy Ann Porter. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Laura Bowden, Inez Langdon-Smith, Geraldine Byrd, and Dorothy (Boggy) Ryan; brothers, John Paul (Slick) Ryan, John T. (Tom) Ryan, Alexander (Alec) Ryan, William (Bo) Ryan, and his bonus son, Charlie Ward.\n\nRaised on his family's farm, Bill spent many years in tobacco fields, tending to livestock and breaking ponies. An extremely intelligent man and a self-taught mechanical expert, there was no problem he could not solve. He was drawn to all things vintage and restored vintage cars and tractors in his spare time. He had a love for history but an even greater love for his family. Bill was headstrong, stubborn, and passionate to share his wisdom of hard work, dedication, and commitment to family. He encouraged the younger generations, modeling those qualities through his work ethic and steadfast commitment to friends and family alike. As a member of the United States Air Force, he was a crew chief on A7 aircraft while stationed at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. Bill was not just a loving husband, wonderful father, and loyal friend, he was our hero!\n\nBill is survived by his wife and best friend of almost 27 years, Toni Voland Ryan; children, Crystal Callahan (Eric), Billie Ryan, Jeremiah Ryan; bonus children, Christina LoBianco (Paul), Daniel Short (Tabitha); sisters, Christine (Cricket) Ryan, Sarah (Becky) Cornell; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.\n\nA visitation for family and friends will be held on October 23, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Adcock Funeral Home, Spring Lake, NC. Services entrusted to Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory, Spring Lake. There will be a funeral service honoring Bill's life on October 24, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope Baptist Church, Spring Lake, with interment immediately following the service at Liberty Church, Spring Lake, NC.
