Ann Lynette Rivas, 62, of Sanford, NC passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021.\n\nAnn was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Donna Mae Voelcker.\n\nThose left to cherish Ann's memory include her loving husband of 44 years, Jerry; her two daughters, Jessica Rivas and Tracy (German) Altreche; her grandchildren, Jonathan, William, Ryan, Jennifer, Laura, Alex, Mia, Angelo, Stefan, Bradley, and Amelia; her beloved horse, Lakota; and her beautiful miniature collie, Duchess.\n\nAnn was a beautiful and unique woman. She loved animals, even as a child, finding a special place in her heart for dogs and horses, particularly. She was kind and gentle to all. Her husband, Jerry, never once heard her say an unkind word about anyone. Except for Joe Biden, of course. She loved to spend time outdoors, tending to her yard, talking over the fence with her neighbors, and watching her horses and dogs roam the land. Although Ann was a true sweetheart, she also had a bit of a wild side. When she wasn't at home with her family and her animals, she was fishing, or practicing her archery, or speeding down "The Tail of the Dragon" in Deals Gap, NC in her little Mazda. Jerry often witnessed her wild side when he dared to eat smelly smoked oysters in the house, but he was always able to bring back Ann's sweet side with offerings of his delicious homemade buttermilk pancakes. Ann was truly a special and strong woman, and will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.\n\nA service in Ann's honor will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church at 1625 Ray Rd, Spring Lake, NC 28390.
