Amy L. Barker of Broadway, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:02 AM at Westfield Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sanford, NC after a long and fierce battle with cancer. Amy was born April 26, 1952 in Peoria, IL to Fred and Harriet Wolfe.\n\nAmy is survived by one son Michael Barker of Lillington; daughter, Pam Chima; grandson, Gavin Barker; granddaughter, Savannah Renee Alfonso; her mother, Harriet Wolfe of Eureka, IL; two brothers, Steve (Muriel) Wolfe of Lowpoint, IL, and Paul (Cheryl) Wolfe, Eureka, IL; one sister, Alice (James, Jr.) Polston, Washington, IL; many nieces and nephews, and Carl Wayne McNeill with whom she made her home. She is also survived by dear friends, Delois Bannister, Cathy Patterson and Arlene Patterson.\n\nAmy was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Leon Barker; father, Frederick Earl Wolfe; and nephew, Jesse Wolfe.\n\nAmy was very talented artistically making many beautiful gifts for family and friends over the years. She loved jewelry, clothing, purses, and shoes and enjoyed making people look & feel pretty. She graduated from High Fashion Cosmetology school after high school and worked many years as a beautician both in IL and NC. She taught cosmetology at Central Carolina Community College and Sandhills Community College.\n\nAmy loved spending time in FL with her family during the winter and enjoyed vacations with friends. She loved to read, relax by the pool, cook, and shop. She was a lot of fun to be around.\n\nAmy had a loving heart and made friends easily. She considered many of her friends as family and they called her mom, nana, and sister. She leaves behind many close friends from her days in IL, NC, FL, and the military. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.\n\nServices for Amy will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 6th, 2016 at Broadway United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service.\n\nMemorials can be made to the local hospice, her church, or the charity of the donor's choice.
